Check It Out

Some of the most beautiful songs ever written as well as some of the most politically incorrect songs ever written are available at www.ricksegoine.com along with perhaps the most politically incorrect book in recent memory.

The album entitled "Rock That Ship Of Clowns" is a bi-partisan blast at the bonehead bureaucrats who are doing their best to destroy a perfectly beautiful planet.

The book "Healing Thoughts For A Sick Planet" delves deep into the burning issues of this divided world with candor and humor and actual solutions to the mind-numbing problems that tear at the hearts of the six and a half billion inhabitants of this amazing little planet we call Earth.

Check it out for yourself and tell a friend that there are alternatives in the world of music and literature that are designed to uplift and inform and delight music lovers, avid readers and seekers of truth, wisdom, fairness and freedom.

THE MUSICAL MUSE

Sometimes I get so locked into playing music that I am not certain whether it is me playing music or if it is music playing me...
Could it be total union with my musical muse?...
Muse, who are you?...
Are you just part of the spirit of music in general or are you an individual spirit being who chose me or was assigned to me or perhaps hooked up with me by pure chance?...
If you are an individual, are you an angel?...
My dear Muse, I don't know much about you considering how much time we have spent together...
Do you also inspire others or am I your sole earthly musical partner?...
What do I know about you?...
Let's see, I know you are an original in your musical approach to creating a song...
I also know that you are so prolific that it is real hard to remember even half of what you have given me...
If each song is a gift than you have given gifts so numerous as to pass far beyond count...
I know how much you love crafting lyrics to perfection...And the lyrics reveal just how much you care about me and my family and everyone living in this beautiful and yet fallen world...
I do know my Muse, that you are of the spirit world and of this there can be no doubt...
Maybe someday I will know you as you really are but until then, thank you for being my Muse and my musical inspiration...
Aloha for now until we meet again for the next song... Yours truly, LikaMaui...

The Music Is Alive

The music business is no longer business as usual for major record labels. They are dying a slow death as more and more recording artists are opting to become their own record labels via the internet.

By creating their own personal websites complete with music stores to purchase CD's and download individual songs, music artists with vision and the ability to produce state of the art recordings are able to make their music available to the entire world without having to play the game as defined by the major record labels.

This is a very good thing. It means that some truly wonderful music that otherwise would never have been heard is now available to everyone. It also means that artists can control their own destiny without having to fight with label execs for creative control and no more being ripped off by greedy and unfair profit splits.

Assuming an artist can create and record music that a few or a lot of people will like and want to listen to, all that is needed is a website where their music can be heard and obtained, a little computer knowledge, and some internet marketing savvy which can be learned by anyone with a little time and effort.

Internet technology is the ally of both the independent recording artist and the music buying public. The major labels may survive for awhile longer but eventually, the cigar chomping record exec who vows to make you a star will become a relic of the past and that might not be such a bad thing.
